On the second day of Christmas...

Ok so one thing before I let you go to the present. Today, I offically, saw the end of season 3 of Veronica Mars and I was liking it. I could live with the fact LoVe broke up , again, and they got with other people, again, (Parker reminded me of Hannah and Piz reminded me of Duncan) and everything was fine until I saw Veronica and Piz together in episode 19, acting all cute and lovey dovey and I'm sitting on the couch mad. Not it bothers me but the writers of the series could make Veronica lovey dovey but not with Logan. For some reason that just wasn't possible and it made me mad. Also I don't understand how she even ended up liking him, cause for a whole episode she was going to tell him she just wanted to be friends than all of a sudden they're together. WTF. And I'm going to stop bitching now. Click the cut for your present.

Fic: A Place to Start From

Author: [livejournal.com profile] vmfic_gameon November Episode prompt but not because the prompt inspired me to write it but because another persons fic for the prompt inspired me to write it. Anyway I figure it would make a good present for day 2 of my Christmas present-a-thon so it’s being posted here instead. Enjoy!

Veronica stood in the elevator, at the Grand, watching the doors open. It had been hard enough to convince her-self to come and talk to Logan when she was at home but now she was here she really wasn’t sure why she thought it would be a good idea. Taking a deep breath she quickly exited the elevator just as the doors had begun to close on her. Walking quickly to the door she stops and draws in another deep breath before knocking. Sighing she takes a step towards the elevator, like she was planning to leave, until she heard a bottle break on the other side as the occupant of the room moved towards the door. Deciding to stay put she takes a step to be back where she was when she knocked, waiting for the door to open. When it did she confront with a shirtless Logan who was rubbing his eyes and looking half asleep.

“Hey Veronica. What...” Logan started to say.

“First let me say that I’m sorry for running out last night like I did.” Veronica cut in, “I was a bit overwhelmed, I needed to collect my thoughts, think about what you said.” Veronica continued as she rocked on her heels. All she wanted to do know was run but she couldn’t while Logan had that confused look on he’s face. She lowered her eyes back to the floor.

“Veronica...” Logan tried to say what was on his mind again.

“Look let me just get this out ok. I don’t want to lose you either. And I’m not saying I’m ready to dive back into anything, but after graduation, let’s make it a point to see each other. See where that takes us. I remember what you said about us being epic...” Veronica said finally looking up from the floor to only see an even more confused Logan trying to motion for her to stop speaking.

“Veronica, I don’t remember much of last night.” Logan whispered speaking slowly.

Veronica nodded quickly and started to back away, “Oh ok.” She whispered.

“No! Wait!” Logan demanded making Veronica stop with one leg in mid-air. “If I don’t remember it that means I said something about us being epic.” Logan continued slowly.

“If you don’t remember then how do you know that?” Veronica asked.

“’Cause I’ve been thinking about saying something, like that, to you, for a while. I just didn’t know if I could without a lot of liquid courage though.” Logan said.

“Oh. That’s not a good thing Logan.” Veronica scolded.

“Well it got you back here wanting to be my friend. At least,” Logan whispered, “You’re here for a reason Veronica. Don’t you think it’s time you admit that?”

“I’m here ‘cause I don’t want to lose you. You’re my last link to Lilly, if nothing else.” Veronica whispered.

“Then we should try and be friends.” Logan whispered.

“Are you sure that’s what you want? Cause last night you tired to kiss me.”

“Huh, I thought I imagined that.” Logan said with a slight look of clarity on he’s face before he shook he’s head clear, “I’ll take whatever I can get from you Veronica. As long as you can deal with the fact that while your channelling feelings of friendship I’m still as in love with you as I was last summer.”

“I can live with that Logan as long as you know that I won’t appreciate you pushing anything more than friendship on me until I’m ready for it and you should be warned there is a chance I may never be ready for anything more.” Veronica replied.

“As long as you’re in my life in some way I’ll be ok with that.” Logan said with a small smile.

“Ok.”

“Ok.”

Veronica backed up slowly, towards the elevator, keeping her face towards Logan, “So we should see a movie tomorrow. You know, when you’re completely sober and all.”

“Ok text me the name and time”

“No.” Veronica said, “Why don’t you choose the movie?”

“Your giving up movie rights to little old me. I’m shocked Veronica, I never thought the day would come.”

“Hey. This a one time offer, so you better jump on it while you have a chance.” Veronica warned.

“Alright I’ll text it to you later.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Oh but parting is such sweet sorrow.” Logan sighed leaning his head against the door frame.

“Well maybe for you but I plan to do the happy dance when the elevator doors shut.” Veronica teased.

Logan just laughed and watched on quietly as Veronica left and the only thought in his head was he was glad that they finally had a place to start from.
